Enchanting Laos

Laos is located in the heart of Indochina with 3/4 of the country being tropical jungles and green mountains which often rise to over 6000 feet (2000m). Also known as the land of the thousand elephants, Laos enchants with its fascinating nature, magnificent temples, smiling people and a uniquely laidback lifestyle.

Traversed by the Mekong River, which is very important to the people of Laos, Laos offers impressive landscapes and unspoiled nature, which can best be discovered on a tailor-made tour.

Laos is alive with many traditions now lost elsewhere in region. Rich in history, traditions, diverse landscapes and cultures, Laos is sure to captivate your inner explorer.

The capital Vientiane and the northern old colonial town of Luang Prabang is often on the agenda of history and culture enthusiasts. On the other hands, Northern Laos offers steep mountain terrains, spectacular caves, and hill tribe villages awaiting to be discovered. In the south, the elevated Bolaven Plateau offers cool climate, dramatic waterfalls, and high grade coffee. At the southernmost tip of Laos, on the Cambodian border where the Mekong divides into many branches, one finds about 4,000 islands inviting you to relax and discover.

Laos food is vibrant, colorful, packed with herbs and chilies, and the combinations of ingredients are guaranteed to thrill your taste-buds. Laos cuisine reflects the ethnic diversity of the country and its surrounding neighbors. Laos has strong regional variations even among common dishes, with sticky rice steamed in bamboo baskets being the staple of most meals. When in Laos, you should try larb – a richly spiced minced fish or chicken salad served with sticky rice, jaew – chili dipping paste, tam mak hung – hot and sour green papaya salad, and the bamboo shoot soup kaeng no mai. Don’t forget to pair the food with some local beer or lao-lao rice liquor.

Regardless of whether you are planning an individual trip or a group trip to this enchanting land, it will definitely take your breath away and provide you with the right adventure, a relaxing break or the perfect excursion to seemingly long-forgotten times.
